In an attempt to use some old stash, I've resorted to using peel-offs. In a classy CAS way of course! The label is made with a die that came free with a magazine and the die cut greeting is from Paper Smooches, The decoration behind the tag is made with black paper ric-rac and peel-off lines.

I've added some gold gossamer ribbon and some gold gems to bling it up.

Yellow Party Frock

I've had a day off work today and took the opportunity to make a few 'girly' birthday cards to use for the ladies I work with. Inspired by the colour challenge at Color Throwdown, 

    

 

 
 I made this...

The frock and manikin image is from the Digistamp Boutique and tI've paper-pieced the image with  spotted paper  from my stash. I've added a black peel off strip, a couple of yellow gems and 3 peel-off 'buttons' on the frock.The font is Freehand591 BT.

I was asked to make a Dad's 80th birthday card for a colleague at work in 'masculine' colours and came up with this...

I've used a very large 8x8 Kraft base to make the card stand out amongst the shop bought cards. The papers are from Papermania's Spots and Stripes metallic capsule collection - I totally love these colours and patterns. The layout is fairly simple but I think the dull gold matting makes it look 'special' enough for such an important milestone birthday.

Football for Girls

Today's card is a special request form a work colleague for her sister: a card with a football theme for a Newcastle United supporter.

I found the image of the girl with the football on the Internet. I added the stripes as I coloured the shirt and made the Newcastle logo on the shirt in Publisher. The image is fussy cut the mounted on a plain background - she didn't want anything fussy. In fact the only concession to femininity is the pink football and boots!

Splattered Bloom

I've had such a busy weekend that I haven't had time to do any cards until this afternoon. Yesterday was spent in York having afternoon tea at The Grand Hotel and this morning was spent at the Ross Papercraft show at Seaburn. 
 
When I saw this week's challenge at Less Is More my heart sank! 

This week we're back to our

One Layer Card 

and we would like you to include

Splatters

These could be applied in any way you choose, stamped, flicked, spritzed, dropped, whatever!

It wasn't the one layer part that worried me - I quite like one layer cards - it was the splatter part! I don't do inks and messy stuff so at first I didn't have a clue what I could use. Then I had a light bulb moment - food colouring - it's just 'cookery ink' after all! I have it in loads of colours for making cupcakes, so after printing a Digistamp Boutique image onto some textured card I came up with this...

I  used yellow chalk and cotton wool to dust the background then using a cocktail stick dropped splatters over the image. I finished it off with 3 yellow gems.

I was also over the moon to see that this card has made the Less Is More showcase - it's lovely to get recognition from such a talented challenge blog.

Butterfly Dress

Today's card is not my usual style. I bought a pack of black and white 'Butterflies and Lace' die-cut toppers by Lelli-Bot from a craft fair because I thought it would be useful to make some cards for 'older ladies' such as Grandmas. The set contained 8 toppers and co-ordinating papers - it was such good value I couldn't leave it on the shelves! (my excuse for a lot of my crafty purchases).

To add a bit of colour, I coloured the lady's frock and the backing papers with a gold pro-marker. I could have probably added a bit more in the way of embellishments - flowers etc - but I thought the papers were so busy I'd keep the images simple with a handful of yellow gems to decorate.

I'm not feeling any love for this card - I don't think the mixture of a CAS layout and the busy papers works... or maybe it's just too yellow!

Never mind - I enjoyed making it! I'm entering this card into the challenges at:

Black Flower

This week's challenge at Less Is More is a colour challenge...

Predominantly Black! 

The first idea that popped into my head was silhouette, which gave me the opportunity to use my new Verona Bouquet die from Memory Box...

I've used Follow You Into The World font for the greeting and added three tiny black peel-off spots.

Little Claire's New Home

A while ago I bought some Little Claire peel-offs at a craft fair that until today have sat in the bag I carried them home in! Now I'm not normally a lover of peel-offs - they can look a bit 'cheap' -  but the sample cards I saw at the craft fair looked really professional so I succumbed...

I'm pleased with the result. I did worry about colouring the smaller parts of the image because I don't have the steadiest hands when colouring but it was really easy to colour.
