Happy Day

Another quick card using the die-cut decoupage pad I bought from The Works a few weeks ago...

The decoupage greeting was put together very easily using foam pad and the butterfly strip came with the kit. I used a wallpaper sample for the backing paper (from Graham and Brown - a subtly shiny bark effect). Finally I added some flat-backed pearls to embellish the butterflies.

Birthday Cupcakes Decoupage

A quick card tonight while watching TV...

The decoupage topper is from Anita's foiled range. It was quick to put together and I like the vibrant colours.

I added some heart polka dot cerise patterned paper, a mirri card die-cut border and some mirri Card Candi.

The greeting was created in Publisher and matted on mirri card then mounted using foam pads. A very quick card for my box.

Shiny Heart Anniversary

Today's card - an Anniversary card for my friend to give to her parents...

I used a lovely filigree heart by a company called Apple Blossom (came with a magazine) to cut the heart in silver mirri card. I mounted this on a white linen background with a mirri and patterned paper border.

The greeting was created in Microsoft Publisher using Monotype Corsiva font matted on mirri card and mounted using foam pads.

Very CAS but the  bright white linen card used makes it look much more interesting.

Bold Flowers and Patterns

Oh my - two weeks since my last post - my poor neglected blog. Life has taken over but I did have time to make this floral birthday card using some papers and toppers that came with an old issue of Making Cards Magazine.

It's an unusual colour scheme but I like it!

The greeting and the embellishments were all fussy cut and I added some matching pearls and ribbon.

Bold Masculine Stripes

Today's card was made using this bold topper and matching patterned paper by Splashcrafts...

The strong colour scheme is really appealing and I like the distressed effect on some of the words.

First, I mounted the topper and greeting on some silver paper to match the lettering. I added some embossed striped white card and the multi-coloured diagonal striped paper on to a blue base card. Finally, I added three coordinating die-cut stars as embellishments.

I think this would be great for a twenty or thirty something bloke!

Spring Flowers

Today's card was very quick and CAS...

I found a pack of 3D die-cut flower images by a company called Studiolight in a charity shop for 99p - there was about 20 sheets of all different flowers in a variety of colours and sizes.I couldn't leave them there could I??? 

I've used 3 of the lily images here, with die-cut scrolls as 'leaves' and mounted these on an embossed die-cut oval background - I was looking for a lattice effect and this embossing folder works well. I also used a black and white butterfly sticker from the range  coloured with a subtle pink pro-marker. The greeting was made in Publisher - white letters on a back background.

In The Garden

I don't know where this month has gone - I just don't get enough time to make and post cards at the moment as I'm trying to get my wilderness of a garden into shape while the weather is fine.

Coincidentally, I was asked to make a card with a garden theme for a work colleague for her uncle's 80th birthday..

The images are from an old 'masculine special' issue of Making Cards Magazine. I've fussy cut some of the images and used other garden related elements: a wood effect backing paper, 'leafy' patterned paper and die-cut fences. Finally, I've added the number using peel-offs coloured with a brown pro-marker.

Still Hitched

I needed an anniversary card for a friend to give her hubby - they love the great outdoors and are fond of camping and caravan holidays... after trawling the Internet I found a few cards in a similar vein to this so created my version...

The cute digital images are of course from Digistamp Boutique (still missing that shop!). I've used pro-markers to colour, then carefully fussy cut. So that the images were 'grounded', I created a sky and road background using coloured pencils and finally added a couple of die-cut clouds.

Simple Die-cut Decoupage

Whilst in town today I had a look in The Works and came away with a bagful of goodies including a book of die-cut toppers to decoupage. Here's a quick card I made with one of them:

It took no time to put the layers of the topper together then I mounted it using foam pads onto some pink wood-effect glittery patterned paper. Finally, I added a die-cut butterfly that came from the same book. It looks quite plain until the glittery backing paper catches the light!

Born To Shop

I've got a few birthdays coming up in April so I've been making some girly cards this afternoon using toppers by Buzzcraft...

I love the pastel shades used in these images. I've used some matching patterned papers from a pad from The Range, matted on dark pink card and added some flat-backed pink pearls.

Butterfly Grid

I've just had no motivation to make cards lately - I'm beginning to think my real hobby is buying craft supplies rather than making actual cards!!

I was however very taken by this neat sketch at Freshly Made Sketches

I really love graphical symmetry like this - I struggle with strange lines in sketches! Here's my creation:

I got these butterfly stickers at a recent Ross Papercraft Show bargain bin and created the background using eau de nil dotted patterned paper from my stash. The greeting was created in Publisher using Newton Cursive font and I've added a few random flat-backed pearls.

Simple 50th

So I'm back in the craft room after a lovely relaxing holiday in Mexico - Puerto Vallarta is becoming our second home!

I needed a 50th birthday card for a friend at work and I've obviously left my mojo sunbathing as I couldn't manage any more than this billy basic card...

I'm really struggling with inspiration at the moment! It looks quite pretty in real life - I've used sparkly patterned scraps from my bits box - but it's just boring!

Driving Test

Firstly welcome to two new followers, Dotty and Jayne - I still can't believe folk choose to look at my cards and read my ramblings!

Have I gone too basic on today's card?

Needing a card for a young lad who has just passed his driving test, I went very CAS and graphic design-ish and created this:

Using a red 6x6 card base, I added a square of white card and arranged die-cut letters with the 'you passed' greeting. The 'L' plate was cut with some fancy edged scissors to give the ripped effect.

Party Like A Penguin

My third 'bird' card this month! I love this happy party penguin digi-stamp from 2 Cute Ink...

I've printed the image onto linen card, coloured with pro-markers and added a few pearl dots as embellishments. I've then mounted the image onto a black base card using foam pads - very CAS.

Lilac Birds

I've used a really old digi stamp - I think from Birdie Brown - and coloured it in shades of purple/lilac. I've mounted the image on some pretty polka dot lilac paper and that's about it really!

Penguin Love

With the snow still on the ground outside, I was inspired to make a Christmas card - thought I'd start early this year!

I've used one of the cute penguin images from Digistamp Boutique (oh how I miss that store!). He's been coloured with pro-markers and I've used pale blue polka-dot patterned paper for the snowy background. I've used red circle border and placed the greeting under the scene to resemble a snow globe. Finally, I've used a die-cut pale blue snowflake with a glittery red heart as an embellishment.

Lipstick Lady

Today's card is for my friend's daughter, Amy, who turns 17 at the weekend. She's a typical teenage girl - love dressing up and experimenting with make up. I have this old digi that is perfect for a make-up themed card...

I've used black  A4 card for the base, folded, then the front folded again - is this called a z fold?. The 'half front' is covered with some fabulous lips patterned paper from Trimcraft's  Bouffants and Broken Hearts range. The image is coloured with pro markers and mounted on a fancy square die. When the card is flat it covers the greeting inside.

Finally, I've added a greeting created in Publisher using Formal 365 font and some sparkly heart stickers as embellishments.

Birthday Pug

Pugs are very popular at the moment so I wasn't surprised when someone asked me for a pug themed pink birthday card for a 21st birthday (so many requirements!!)...

I found the free image by Googling 'Birthday Pug', and it was coloured using Pro-markers. The pink patterned papers are from The Range and the numbers are peel-offs. The greeting was made in Publisher  using Mountains of Christmas font.

Pink and Grey Posy

This morning I started to make a few Mother's Day cards for my box at work...

Using some lovely white linen textured card I created a 6x6 card base and die-cut the flowers and leaves from the same card. The flowers are very old Marianne dies and the stem is a Memory Box flower die with the flower heads cut off (I'm not keen on the shape of them). The butterfly die came with a magazine.

I coloured the die-cut shapes with pro-markers - the linen texture shows through  - I don't like mixing different card on the same card.

I added very tiny pearls to the butterflies and silver brads to the centre of the flowers. The greeting was created in Publisher using Formal 365 font.
