HB * 2U

I desperately need more masculine cards for my box. I usually keep to a clean and simple style when making cards for men so seeing that Less Is More has started up again with the very broad theme of 'Birthdays' I was inspired to make this...

I've only used one third of the card leaving a load of clean white space - very CAS!

I've had the number/letter dies for so long I can't remember where they are from! And the coloured card are bits from my scraps box. I love the star between the letter - looks like something from an old Soviet propaganda poster! The only embellishments used are a tiny black plastic dot and two peel-off strips.

Pink Posy

Today's card is another birthday card but just to add to my 'box' - not for any special purpose...

I used some grey and white polka dot patterned  paper to add some interest to the background. The stem and leaves are part of a Memory Box die. I cut the original flowers off and instead used some flowers created from a set of Marianne dies. I used dull silver brads for the centre of the flowers and I also added a tiny die cut butterfly with a pearl 'body'. The greeting is hand-stamped with a stamp that came free with a magazine,

I've playing along with the challenges at:

Fancy Die-cut Floral 70th Birthday Card

Yesterday was my Mam's 70th Birthday so I can now share the card I made for her - I went for a sunny shade of yellow to brighten up a day with very dull and dreary weather...

What I used:

The fancy dies - very old set from Spellbinders

Number/circle dies - unbranded

Linen card - The Range

Pearls - The Range

Greeting - Paper Flowers font

The yellow was much brighter in daylight - it looks almost a mustard shade in the photo. My Mam loved it and it really stood out!

Marguerita Time

So December started so well - I'd finished the few cards I needed by the 5th and thought I'd spend the lead up to Christmas just building up my stock of birthday cards...

Then everything went mental at work and I ended up doing 2 weeks of overtime every night as something major had gone wrong with one of our processes - great for my bank balance at the end of January but a total downer for my blog!

So this is the first card I have posted since the beginning of December... a girly Marguerita cocktail themed New Year 'cheers' card.

I used some dies that came with an old edition of Die-cutting Essentials and used a palette of greens, cream and purples. I just adore how cute that cocktail umbrella is!

I'm playing along with the challenges at:

Creative Knockouts #433 - anything goes

Cardz4Gals #163 - in with the New Year

Paperminutes #724 - Happy New Year

Krafty Chicks #592 - anything goes

I hope anyone who bothers to read my little blog has a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
