Frieda Flapper!

The request I had for today's card was for a 60th Birthday card for somebody who is flamboyant, loves dressing up and is into amateur dramatics. I thought that the Frieda Flapper digi by Kenny Kiernan was the perfect image...

These images are fabulous to colour! I don't normally like images where the heads are too big for the bodies but I love the whole Kenny K range.

The polka dot backing papers are from my stash and I've added some glittery die cut numbers and shiny red gems.

I've entered this card into the challenges at:

City Crafter - polka dots
Die Cuttin' Divas - anything goes (must use die cuts)
Through The Craftroom Door - anything goes
Come And Get It - one for the girls

Thanks for popping in!

Celebrate

Today's card is for this week's challenge at Less Is More:

'Combine any three previous Less is More challenges'

I knew that I wanted to use one of the new Memory Box dies that my other half bought me for my birthday - Flutter Vine. I layered two die-cuts together to make it stand out more against the background, which I created using a brick effect mask and white ink. Some white flat back pearls were added for a touch of bling.

The 'celebrate' die is from Paper Smooches.

The three previous challenges represented here are:

wk 18 - monochrome
wk 163 - mask/stencil
wk 173 - die-cut

Thanks for looking!

Enjoy The Journey

I always struggle with male cards because I'm definitely a bling loving card maker - I just love to use ribbons, sequins, gems etc. So the request for a 50th birthday card for a man who enjoys caravanning initially had me stumped. Then I found the perfect digi at Little Claire's...

I've tried to keep a 'travel' theme by using a part of a map from a road atlas as the backing paper (these are very cheap!) and a 50 miles per hour road sign for the age. The image is coloured with pro markers and the font is Copperplate Gothic.

I've entered this card into the 'Anything Goes' challenges at:

Spring Bouquet

Today's card was a special request from a work colleague after she saw this card on my blog - she wanted one exactly the same but I try not to make the same card twice so I used the same technique to make this...

I found the digital flower image via Pinterest and printed it twice, die-cutting the word 'happy' from one of the prints. The letters are mounted using foam pads.

I've entered this card into the challenges at:

Crafty Catz - no designer papers
Polkadoodles - birthdays
Brown Sugar - anything goes

Thanks for looking

Penguin Love

I'm back - tanned and relaxed after a wonderful holiday in Mexico and ready to play in the craft room!

Today's card is an order from a work friend, who requested an anniversary card for her partner with a penguin theme. I love penguins myself, and found the ideal digi by Blackberry Jelly which I adapted, re-sized and fussy cut to make this cute card. The heart balloon and bow is from a set of balloon dies by Elizabeth Craft Design. I've coloured them with pro-markers and mounted them on foam pads. The greeting was created on my computer and I used Bebas font.

I love the versatility of digis rather than rubber stamps. The biggest advantage is being able to manipulate the images, and make them as big or as small as you require. Also, I have two left hands when it comes to rubber stamping - I can never get the pressure right and often have bits missing or lighter parts on the image. Using a digi, the image is always bold and clear.

I've entered this card into the following challenges:

As You Like It Challenge - rubber or digi (see above!)
Time Out Challenges - clean and simple
The Corrosive Challenge Blog - our animal friends
Bastelmuehle Blogspot - clean and simple
Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - use a two word sentiment
