Early Start For Christmas

So... this weekend I started to make my Christmas cards! As you do!

Using a fabulous image by Heather Ellis I created this:

I've coloured her with pro-markers and metallic gel pens and used Pebbles Basic polka dot patterned card for the backing.

Emerald Anniversary

The emerald is the traditional symbol for a 55th Wedding Anniversary and it is also the precious stone for the month of May. How appropriate that I was asked to make a card for a friend to give to her parents who are celebrating this particular anniversary this week.

I've used a lovely Memory Box heart die which I've decorated with emerald crystals. The embossed swirls add some texture and I've also used thin strips of ribbon behind the heart topper.

Butterfly Thanks

I've been stocking up with 'thank you' cards for my box of cards for all occasions - you can never have too many! This one was very quick to make and I'm on making more in different colour schemes:

I made the circle background in Microsoft Publisher and coloured different sections with different shades of pink. The butterfly was die cut in vellum using a die that came free with a magazine and the greeting was made on the computer. I've added some flat back pearls to make the butterfly's body and some fine white glitter to the wings which was difficult to capture in the photo.

Sending You Sunshine

It's theme week at Less Is More and the challenge is:

HELLO SUNSHINE

This stumped me at first but inspired by the shape of the sun in Chrissie's card I came up with this:

The clouds and centre of the sun are die cuts and the 'sun beams' were hand cut from a strip of patterned paper. The greeting was created in Publisher using Follow You Into the World font.

You Colour My World

Oh gosh - where has the last week gone to? Decorating the bathroom - that's where! Hardly any time spent in my little craft room :-(

Today's card was a quickie for a friend who wanted a penguin themed anniversary card. I've seen a number of this type of card on Pinterest where the background is made up of lighter stamped/printed images and one of the images is coloured so here's my attempt...

The image was found by googling 'penguin colouring pages'. I changed the colour of the images to light grey and arranged them in a 3x3 grid in Microsoft Publisher. I then printed, coloured and die-cut another image and mounted it using foam pads. The greeting is computer generated using a lovely font called Follow You Into the World.

Use opposite colours on the wheel 

here's a mini colour wheel to give you a clue

I've used linen textured card for the base and the Verona Bouquet die from Memory Box cut in two colours - red and green. I've layered the red flowers and added some shading with pro markers which is difficult to see.

I'm not sure why there's an old saying about not wearing these colours together but it's right - an outfit in these shades would make anyone look like a Christmas elf!
