Last Christmas Card of the Year

Today I'm sharing my last Christmas card of 2015 - in all I made about 55 cards for various people and I'm now ready to tidy away the Christmas stash for another year!

I've used a favourite Christmas digi which was a freebie from The Alley Way Stamps - these trees are fabulous to colour and fussy cut. I've coloured the images with pro markers and mounted them on a die-cut fancy square. The swirly patterned paper came with Making Cards Magazine some years ago. I've also added some die-cut stars and a heart. the font for those who need to know such important stuff is Copperplate Gothic.

I'm entering this card into the challenges at:

Christmas Stockings

Oh my - where has the last week gone? It's not that I haven't made any cards - I have! It's just finding the time between work and Christmas shopping and meals with friends - oh and it feels like it's dark 24/7. There's about an hour a day when the light is right for photos!

Enough of my griping - here's today's card. A one layer card inspired by the 'What's in my stocking?' challenge at Less is More. The image is from Pink Petticoat. It's coloured with pro markers. I've added a touch of white glitter and some red gems as berries. That's about it really - it took all of 10 minutes and that includes recovering the green pro marker from under the couch when the cat knocked my crafting table!!

Thanks for looking folks

Peace and Joy

The making of Christmas cards is nearing the end in the Glittertastic house... just as well as the cat is starting to sparkle in the light with the amount of glitter in his fur. He does like to 'help'.

Today's card has been made using a lovely wreath digi from Pink Petticoat. I've always loved the style of the images from this company - modern and contemporary yet very easy to colour.

This one is for my friend's Nanna. I've used some of my favourite linen textured card for the base. The image has been coloured using pro markers and I've decoupaged the ribbon. I've also added a blue gem on the ribbon and some peel-off glittery dots amongst the holly.

I'm entering this into the challenges at:

Less Is More - green and blue

Silver Sparkling Tree

Today's card was made using a very useful die-cut Christmas tree from Kanban. I found them at a craft fair last week for 50p a sheet so it would have been rude not to buy a handful of sheets - a mixture of trees and baubles ready to add colour or bling to.

I added various sized gems (the pound shop) and layered the tree on a die-cut fancy shape and dull silver card.

I'm entering this card into the challenges at:

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge #108 - AG/use a die cut
Craft For the Craic - something glittery
Winter Wonderland - sparkle and bling

Birthday Penguin

Today's theme at Less Is More is

NUMBERS

I had another request for a 1st Birthday card for a nephew so using my favourite penguin digi from Blackberry jelly, I created this:

I don't usually use patterned paper on CAS cards but as I've only used it on the balloon and as a border I think I might have got away with it, especially as it's such a tiny pattern. The font I've used is 'Hey Pretty Girl'.

Back to the Christmas cards...

Arrrrgh!

Today's card is for a friend's little boy who is turning five. He is pirate mad and especially loves Captain Hook, so I came up with this creation for him...

I found the image of Captain Hook and the treasure chest on Google images. I created an aged paper effect background using some mottled yellow paper and a brown pro-marker with random cuts around the edge.  You can just make out the feint map I drew with a very pale yellow marker. The greeting was created using a pirate style font. I hope he likes it!

Ho Ho Ho

Christmas has already started in the Glittertastic house - I've been making Crimbo cards for a few weeks now and I'm well on schedule! Today's card is for a teenage boy - a difficult group of folk to make for so I kept it simple... very simple!

It's one layer week at Less Is More and inspired by their Santa theme I made this using an embroidery image from Urban Threads...

I used heavy white linen card for the base which I feel always adds a bit of texture to one layer cards and it's lovely to colour as the texture shows through.  I've used pro markers to colour him, and a silver gel pen for the buckle.  Peel-off circles were used for the boot buttons and I've finished it off with a tiny cotton wool ball for the pom-pom. The greeting was created using Candy Square BTN Striped font.

Cute Giraffe

Today's card was an order from one of my regular customers who wanted a cute birthday card for her kids to give to their soon-to-be one year old cousin (I remember making 'new baby' cards this time last year! Where has this year gone??)

I used the ever so cute Georgie the Giraffe digi from Lacy Sunshine. I coloured the image using pro-markers and decoupaged parts of the image to give it some depth. the spotty papers are from my stash. I've also added embellishments in the form of pearls and lace.

Lady in Blue

I finally found my way back into my craftroom this morning after a wonderful week in Glasgow watching the World Gymnastics Championships.

Inspired by the paper piecing challenge at Less Is More and the colour blue challenge at Dream Valley Challenges I made this...

The gorgeous digi is from A Day For Daisies  - I printed the image onto a linen base card then printed the image onto some pale blue spotty card. I also added a decorative strip in the same pattern down the side of the card. The body and hair were coloured with pro markers and I added a bit of bling with some pale blue gems.

The greeting was some freebie word art from Create With TLC.

Step - Poppy

Now in my time I have been asked to put some weird and wonderful things on the front of cards as a greeting........... here's a new one for me! My work colleague asked for a masculine looking 60th birthday card for her 'Step - Poppy' (step father?)...

I've used a large 8x8 kraft card base to help the card stand out. The lovely patterned papers are from Papermania, the centre and numbers are die-cut and I've added a navy grosgrain ribbon for some texture.

Fabulous 50

Tonight's card was a request from a work colleague - a 50th birthday card for her 'Mam' as we say here in the North East...

The numbers are die-cut - a pink layer slightly displaced on a black layer. To add some shine I covered the numbers in glossy accents then added a flat-backed pearl. The background was made in Publisher - I repeated the greeting with a small heart between each repeat. This is a great way to make a newspaper effect backing paper.

The main greeting is done in the same font but larger and I've added a couple of stars and pearls.

Very quick and simple to make!

Snow Gets In Your Eyes

Today's 'Anything Goes' challenge at Simply Papercrafts is sponsored by the most wonderful artist, Morgan Fitzsimons at Morgan's Art World.

There is the super prize of 3 digis for the lucky winner of this week's challenge so pop over and join in with the fun!

I've used one of Morgan's images to add to my ever growing pile of Christmas cards. I just love this image of a girl with a snowflake in her eye. It was just asking to be coloured in an icy colour.....

I wanted to make the card fancy without using lots of embellishment so dug out this gorgeous die with fancy corners I've had for a while. I've built up layers using oval nesties and used a foiled icy green patterned paper as a backing. The image is coloured with the palest aqua/green pro-markers and a couple of gems on the greeting add a touch of bling.

I've also enterered this card into the challenges at:

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Christmas
Time Out Challenges - make your mark + monochrome
Crafting For All Seasons - tic tac toe (die cuts/digi/sentiment)
Crafty Gals Corner - bingo (2+ layers/hand coloured digi/die cuts)
