Red Butterfly

Sometimes I wonder if a card can be too simple. Is just sticking something on a piece of card creative enough? That's a bit how I feel about today's card...

For the spotty background I used a piece of sequin waste as a mask and dabbed dark red ink on it with cotton wool. The butterfly is from an Anita's Dimensions sticker pack which I blinged up with some gems. The sentiment is computer generated. And that's it.

I've entered this card into the challenges at:

The Colour Purple

I've always loved purple - especially the lighter lilac and lavender shades. Also, like orange, it's a colour that doesn't have a word that rhymes with it. It's also an ideal colour for Mother's Day cards!

It's a simple layout - one I've used for years - but I wanted the lovely decoupage flower to be the star of the show.

I've entered this card into the challenges at

Allsorts Challenge Blog - the colour purple
Moving Along With The Times - pink, lilac and/or butterflies

Cats

I'm still in Mother's Day mode! Today's card is a request from a work colleague who wanted a cat themed Mother's Day card.

This adorable image is available from Urban Threads for less than a pound! I discovered this web site a while ago and although the designs are intended for embroidery, they make great digi images. The border is also a digi, available from Delicious Scraps. I've coloured the image using ProMarkers - I would love a scarf in these colours!

I've entered this card into the challenges at:

Less is More - One layer week - Love
Passion for ProMarkers - Someone I Love
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - All Creatures Great and Small

and the colour scheme is from:

Blue Daisies

Do blue daisies even exist? I don't know but that's the colour I've used to match the gorgeous polka dot backing paper. The paper is from my stash and the image is of course from Digistamp Boutique. I've tried to shape the daisy heads to make them look more real - it's kinda worked!

Textured Golden Anniversary Card

Today's card is a celebration of love - 50 years of it to be exact. It was an order from a friend who wanted something 'simple but touchy feely' as the lady in the couple it is intended for has very poor eyesight. So I concentrated on texture...

I've used a linen embossed card for the card base - it's really heavy (300gsm) and is lovely to work with. On a raised square of the same card, I've used some gorgeous dull gold textured wallpaper (a sample from a DIY shop that cost about £40 a roll!) and added a wooden heart coated in white glitter. The sentiment is computer generated using Tempus Sans font and matted using the same wallpaper.

Is it 'too' simple? I don't know... but I'm really pleased with the way it feels!

I've entered this into the following challenges:

As You Like It Challenge - CAS or Fussy? Definitely CAS - I love the clean lines and graphic feel to CAS cards - even my attempts at the 'fussy/floral/layered' cards are CAS!
Crafting For All Seasons - Have A Heart
CASology - Love
Papertake Weekly - Hearts and/or Flowers
Craft For The Craic - Anniversary

Blooming Fabulous

My favourite Saturday challenge blog, Less is More, celebrates its 4th birthday today and the theme is PINK and GREY. Also, the current challenge at CAS on Sunday is 'flowers'. Combining both challenges is the perfect mix for making another Mother's Day card.

The image is from the Digistamp Boutique and I've paper pieced it with grey and a subtley patterned pink paper. The flowers were so fiddly to cut out! I added the pink pearls to give it a bit of bling.

Enjoy the weekend

Thirteen

Today's card is one I make each year - a birthday card for my friend's daughter, Amy. She's 13 this year so I've gone for something a bit more grown up . It's one of the cute pre-coloured images by Kenny K, available on a multi image sheet by The Hobby House...

I've used some gorgeous pink and green papers from Dovecraft's Garden Party pack  the greeting and number were done on the computer, the delicate bow is part of a Memory Box Christmas Ornament die and the tiny heart was punched.

I've entered this into the 'Anything Goes' challenges at:

Papertake Weekly
Through The Craft Room Door and
Crafting from the Heart

and also the 'Bingo' challenge at Incy Wincy Designs (any punch, 3 or more papers, any type of die cut)

Baby Makes Three

Another baby card for the box inspired by the 'Little Ones' challenge at Less Is More and the 'Clean and Simple' challenge at Addicted To Stamps and More...

I've no idea where this digi is from - I've had it for years - but it certainly is versatile. I've coloured it using pro markers and added a bit of depth by layering the mammy and daddy bird's wings. The sentiment is a freebie from Create with TLC.
