Birthday Cupcake

A quick card today using up a Kanban cup cake die cut topper from a kit I've had for a while...

I've mounted the topper on a range of die-cut scalloped and normal circles and used a coordinating blue polka dot patterned paper. I've added a decorative border from the kit and die-cut tiny pennant triangles to create bunting to match the bunting around the cake.

Finally, I've added a greeting created in Publisher using 'Hello' font.

Walk Like An Egyptian

I can't believe I've been working from home now for almost 11 months. I'm really missing my work colleagues - TEAMS is great but isn't the same as proper contact.

One of the lovely ladies I work with is celebrating her birthday this weekend and she loves anything Egyptian. I knew I had once acquired some foiled Egyptian decoupage at a craft fair sometime to make the perfect card...

The image is of Tutankhamun - the boy Pharoah- whose tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter.

The decoupage is difficult to see in these photos but it was very easy to cut out. I used a lovely shaped die from The Works to cut out the image and the black matting. The backing papers are from a Forever Friends foiled patterned paper pack and match the image perfectly. I created the greeting in Publisher in the appropriately named Papyrus font.

Gasping For A Cuppa!

I can't remember the last time I went out for a cup of coffee with friends - it's probably coming up to a year. I'll certainly never take it for granted again!

Today's card is and old digi I was given to make a card with when I was part of a Design Team on the disbanded Simply Papercraft Challenge Blog. It's a super cute image from Karleigh Sue...

For a change I've coloured the image with Spectrum Noir pencils. I find these much easier to blend than pens but I don't think the finish is as professional. I've used some embossed white card (resembling 'steam' swirls from the coffee) and some papers from my stash as background. The cute latte and greeting are from Digistamp Boutique.

I'm entering this card into the challenges at:

Birthday Stag

I've got a week off work to use up some holidays and with nowhere to go, and nobody to see, I'm doing what every good crafter does and I'm making cards!

Another masculine card today - I've never made so many!

For the base I've used grey linen textured card. I've added a square of very subtle grey checked patterned paper and across the bottom of the card I've added a strip of torn maroon chevron patterned paper. I've inked the torn edge to highlight it. I've die-cut two tags in grey and maroon and added a die cut stag (Recollections). To embellish, I've added some grey ribbon and some peel-off silver circles coloured with a maroon pro-marker

I'm joining in with the challenges at:

The Male Room #146 - animals

Lovely In Lilac

Today's card was an order from my partner's Mum to give my Sister-in Law for her upcoming birthday. Rachel loves going out with her girlfriends so I thought Digistamp Boutique's 'Party Zara' would be an ideal digi to use...

I've coloured her using Spectrum Noir pens and used coordinating patterned papers from Dovecraft's Back To Basics II pack which come in a lovely lilac and chartreuse (pale lime green) colour combo.

I've matted all the papers on makeshift kraft card (buff coloured folders) and added some die-cut flowers and leaves. The greeting was created in Publisher using Hello Bunny font.

White Roses on Kraft

A quick card today made with a variety of dies...

I've used a kraft card base and added a square of corrugated kraft card. For the 'roses' I've used three abstract circle dies from Wish with flat-backed pearls in the centre. The foliage dies are from the £1 dies from The Range

I've added a greeting using an arrow word die from The Works. The kraft card really makes the white dies 'pop' doesn't it.

Butterfly Sparkles

It's a cold, dark day here in the North East with patches of snow still on the ground. I've had a day off work today (even though I've worked at home for the last 10 months!) so I've made a huge beef casserole and some cards...

I was greatly inspired by the sketch at Fusion - I do like a simple sketch with no odd bits!

My colour scheme was easily sorted when I saw the challenge at As You Like It - favourite colour scheme and why...

I do love the look of pink and green together - it's a match made in nature - think of how many pink flowers there are! I prefer the more pastel shades which is what I have gone for in this card...

I used an ivory card base and created the greeting in Publisher using Splendid font. The die cut foiled butterfly and matching patterned papers came with a magazine years ago. I'd like to say they are Hunkydory but I can't be sure. I've added sparkling gems to make a 'trail' and to highlight some of the foiled dots on the butterfly. Simple but pretty.

I'm also playing along with the challenges at:

Baseball Boots

I am really needing to have more male cards in my card box so I came up with this cute design inspired by the challenges at :

LESS IS MORE

and JUST US GIRLS

I'm not really an inky kind of crafter so I used my brick stencil and coloured the spaces with a grey pro-marker then added a darker shade to create the wall background. I have had the baseball boots digi for years. I coloured and fussy cut the image and mounted it on foam pads in front of the wall.

The greeting was created in Publisher changing the Arial Rounded MT font to white on a black background.

CASE'd Birthday Card

I've been clearing out some old papercraft magazines and came across this pretty card in an old issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft from January 2014.

I found this card very easy on the eye and was inspired to create my own version...

I copied exactly (CASE'd) some elements of the card and added my own touch to other elements. I'm pleased with the result. The patterned paper and the bird sticker are from The Range, the heart die is from Provo Craft, the greeting was created in Publisher and the embossing folder came free with a magazine. As embellishments I've added a tiny wooden heart and a trio of green pearls.

Silver Foliage Card

Today's card is in what I call 'French Style' - it's strange how card makers from different countries have a particular style. On my last holiday to the continent (remember holidays?) I picked up a couple of issues of a French card making magazine - Passion Cartes Creatives - I found in a newsagent shop in Strasbourg and I loved how French cardmakers use a lot of mirri card and foliage dies in their cards...

I've used a kraft card base and also die cut some kraft stiched-squares - one of my presents from Santa! I've been after some square dies with a stiched-border effect for a while and I was over the moon to see these reduced in The Works last weekend before it shut again for lockdown.

The foliage dies are from various sets and makes I have in my stash and I've used silver mirri-card to cut the shapes.  The pastel patterned paper is from a Simply Creative pack - Let It Snow - from The Range.

I've arranged the squares and foliage randomly, and I've added a greeting created in Publisher using Monotype Corsiva font. I've also added some tiny pale blue pearls.

Take care and stay safe

Thinking Of You

Happy New Year - hopefully 2021 will turn out much better than the dreadful year we have just experienced!

Today's card is unfortunately a sympathy card for a friend from work - a sad but necessary make.

I die-cut 3 squares then embossed them with selected areas of some of my embossing folders. I then arranged them on a strip of black card arranged to the right of the card base and added a greeting created in Publisher. Then because I just couldn't stop myself I added tiny highlights using Pebeo Metal Touch 3D paint.
