New Year New Focus

So, I wasn't sure whether to continue with my blog or not - I just don't get the time lately to make cards, and I'm also trying out other crafts, so my focus has shifted a bit. But - I got some 'stuff' for Christmas which is a shame not to use, and I've also had a mad idea of doing some running exercise this year and trying for the 'couch to 5K' challenge.

To keep a record of my journey/progress, I have upcycled a notebook I picked up for free at a jobs fair...

What I used:

Number dies -     Stephanie Weightman

Coloured/mirri card -     from stash

Title -     created in Publisher using Copperplate Gothic font

Silver dots -     peel-offs

I'm playing along with the challenges at:

Love to Craft Challenge #84 - AG

Time Out Challenge #279 - Beginnings

Just Us Girls #756 - AG/use dies

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #746 - AG

Crafting Happiness #207 - AG

Thanks for visiting - happy crafting in 2025!

Goth Girl Journal

Happy Friday everyone!

Another fortnight has passed which means it's time for the next challenge at:

Simply Papercraft

As usual the challenge is 'Anything Goes' which makes it so much easier to join in! This week the challenge is being sponsored by the wonderfully quirky Lizzy Love at Oddball Art - take a look at her ETSY shop with images from 69 pence ($1) - they are especially ideal for teenagers.

For today's card I have used one of the images provided by Lizzy to decorate a 2016 diary for a teenage girl who is a bit 'Goth' in her style of dress. This creepy/cute image was a delight to colour using a mixture of pro-markers and Spectrum Noir Blendable pencils. The black spotty paper was from my stash and I've added some decorative pearls and red gems in the corners. Finally, I've tied some strips of black and red ribbons to the top rung of the binding.

The greeting is done in 'Follow You Into The World' font and I've hand-drawn both the borders and the heart embellishments. The words are actually lyrics from We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus - not someone you would associate with anything goth but I liked the sentiment behind the words.

I'm entering this journal into the challenges at:

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge  - not a card
Moving Along With The Times - spots or dots
Southern Girls Challenge - one for the girls
Glitter n Sparkle - tic tac toe (gems/pearls+digi+ribbon)

Thanks for popping in...
